Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy, University of Sydney
Special Interests: Chronic Pain, Strength Training & Explain Pain
After gaining a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney in 1995, I worked for several years developing comprehensive experience in major public hospitals in Sydney and Canberra.
In 2006, I joined Hands-On Physiotherapy in Mawson, where I developed the branch Hands-Off Physiotherapy, which focused on providing education and an active recovery approach following injury and surgery. I eventually became a co-owner of this practice, before branching out as a sole trader in 2014, creating Body@Work Physiotherapy.
My experience also encompasses casual roles contracting for Peak Conditioning, as well as in the occupational health space, providing ergonomic advice with SRC solutions/Konekt; manual handling education through Productive Healthy Work (PHW), and on-site physiotherapy for QANTAS staff at Canberra Airport through Bodycare Workplace Solutions.
I have been an invited guest speaker to local GP's, insurers, Rehabilitation Providers, Physiotherapists, Sports Physicians, ACT Healthier Work initiative and corporate workplaces; speaking on topics including applied pain science, ergonomics and manual handling.
As a physiotherapist, my preference is to use a hands-off approach. I have a special interest in applied pain science, both as an educator and in combination with the use of exercise as medicine.
My passion is in movement restoration and coaching - helping clients reclaim their body by addressing weakness, muscular imbalance or deficits in natural movement. This is a particularly useful approach in arthritis and overuse injuries, whiplash, lower back pain, shoulder injury, postural dysfunction, as well as recovery from surgery.
I'm really excited to be running exercise focused treatment, including the G:LAD program for Southside Physiotherapy; where I can partner with clients in improving their health and getting back to work, sport or hobbies.
